This area is loaded with Anasazi ruins, with the House on Fire ruins being the most impressive. The Anasazi settled here around 750 A.D. to 1300 A.D. The ruins that you see here have not been restored nor rebuilt. What you see in Mule Canyon and the surrounding canyons are between 700 to nearly 1000 years old. The trail parallels a small, clear stream and with wide grassy parts of Mule Canyon, it’s very easy to see why the Anasazi built their dwelling here.

I scaled myself up onto a ledge to photograph this amazing set of natural structures. The sunsetting and the light just kissing the arch before it faded away.
The Navajo people consider these canyons as sacred sanctuaries. There are many animal spirits within. The Eagle stands out more than others.

There is so much going on in this photo. I see what appears to be a broken mask clearly in the image. others see a horse among other things.

Arches National Park in south eastern Utah is breathtaking. I could spend months just photographing trees.
As the sun was setting to the west the sky just illuminated to the east in deep yellow/gold tones.

I now know why Elvis referred to Hawaii as blue...even the clouds are blue. This gorgeous lava rock formation protruding out of the beach made for just a wonderful shot with great leading lines bringing the eye straight down the beach.

A shot way up in the early morning just capturing a bit of the Colorado river snaking its way through the Grand Canyon.

An Evening sunset shot near the Napili Beach on Maui.
The light was dancing nicely off the waves and sand, with black lava rock leading the eye down the beach.

This waterfall was worth the hike through the dense rainforest water and mud. as we approached the falls you could hear it pouring into the small quaint river. When we finally arrived to see it in is glory it really did feel as though we found some Zen sanctuary. Very peaceful.

I found this beach near Napili on the island Maui on an early walk.
The greens popped off the rocks and was so visually appealing. Notice the 3 tears of water from the large wave coming in to the smaller waves breaking and the pool of water being pulled back by the tide. the light was harmonious and played well off the sand and water.

This Photo was taken in the middle of summer near Drumheller Alberta. I had to be at the site for around 5 am to catch the sunrise on the horizon and was gifted with just a spectacular array of colors popping everywhere. The Sky reminds me of a Monet painting.

It never fails me! Every time I drive through Kananaskis country, the 3 sister mountain range has the most dramatic clouds dancing around them.

An early cool morning in late spring as Jasper comes alive. You can see the touch of fog over the tree lines and clouds blowing by. The snow caps where moving with the breeze and some sunlight just creeping in and touching down on the mountainsides. I over saturated they sky in post just to give a more dramatic feel.
Â
Located between Banff and Lake Louise. This beautiful mountain range runs along the Bow River. The light was spectacular this crisp spring evening bringing out majestic purple, blues and yellows.

Just a bit of a hike in the Johnson canyon you will run into this beautiful setting. The colors are striking anytime of year and worth the walk.

Taken near Red Rock Canyon in Waterton National park.
Just east of Edmonton lies Elk Island National Park. It is absolutely filled with wildlife, small lakes and walking trails. This photo of Asotin lake is my all time favorite shot from the park. the lake was so calm and the sunset just right the reflections off the lake where amazing.

Aerial shot over Arizona near the Grand Canyon.
Flying through the Grand Canyon in a small aircraft I was able to capture this remarkable image of one of the seventh natural wonders of the world. You can see the Colorado river bending its way through the canyon. No photo can really show just how huge this place really is and it is quite different to see it via air than standing on one of its ledges.

The beach of Kaanapili on Maui Hawaii. Colorful and vibrant
Â
If you ever want to see spectacular tall trees, you must go to Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island. It is as close to the Redwood forest of California that we have in western Canada. I could not believe the way the light was playing with the greens of the forest.
Â
Caught this Japanese Maple trekking through the Bouchart Gardens Victoria in the late fall. I did use a filter to enhance the reds and magentas and saturated the colors in post to get this effect, which in my mind is striking and looks great framed in black with a black mat.
Â
During one of my many autumn trips to Elk Island, I was fortunate enough to catch this quick little sandpiper skimming the lake with the fall colours reflecting off the water.
Nope...Not Australia. This is in the badlands of Alberta. The alone tree, dramatic sky and dessert feel made me think of Australia and the bushmen who do the walk about when coming of age.
This is an aerial shot of several cook pines on the island of Molokai. I was in a Hughes 500D Helicopter (Magnum PI chopper) with no doors. It was an incredible experience that I will not forget. Hawaii from the air is just as beautiful as it is on ground. The company who I took this flight with no longer exists nor do any other doors off flights, so I feel very lucky to have been able to capture several aerial shots with no barriers.
This area of the beach was showing a lot of movement. It is a place called black rock near Lahaina Maui. the snorkeling is fantastic around this area of the beach, sea turtles often make appearances near the rocks.

North Shore Maui...Surfers come here.
We arrived at this location and the parking lot was full of surfers waiting for the right time of day. It was a volkswagon van fest with smoke billowing out of several of the vehicles. #fasttimes

I was walking near a lake in Jasper, when I came across this driftwood. from a distance I thought it was an old skull, but as I walked closer I found it was just a real cool looking piece of driftwood.
